Welcome to the Austin Area Collective Housing home page!
We intend to start a new housing cooperative in Austin. Our goal is to use our collective resources as a cooperative to benefit the surrounding community while being an affordable and fun place to live (see our mission for more details). Ideally we would like to be able to house around 30 people, although we may wind up creating something smaller than that depending on what is ultimately feasible. This is a joint project with Sasona Cooperative, and the new co-op will be a second house under the umbrella of their nonprofit, Community Housing Expansion of Austin. We are currently looking for property and assessing financing options, as well as looking for additional people to help start the coop and seeking to reach out to the community at large.
